Ladder Truck Drill w/ Sparta Fire

8/16/07:  Byram Twp. Firefighters took part in a Ladder Truck Drill with Sparta Twp. Fire Department.  Sparta Firefighters explained the truck and  showed Byram fire members how to operate the Truck.  Firefighters then began flowing water through the Ladder truck from 2 portable pools.  The Drill took place a the Byram lakes school.  Firefighters then took part in a fair well BBQ for Captain Matarazzo who is moving to Florida  More Pictures 

Low Angle Repelling Drill

7/12/07:  Byram Twp. Firefighters took part in a Low Angle repelling and rescue drill.  The drill took place in the woods on the old railroad bed by Waterloo Rd.   The class allowed firefighters to egress down rocky terrain to a simulated victim.  The second part of the drill was lowering and raising a victim up the same terrain using the stokes basket.   More Pictures  photo by T. Extrication Training Drill

6/14/07:  Byram Twp. Firefighters hosted a multi-agency extrication drill.  There were 5 stations set up with several different scenarios. .  The class included the use of the simulator that allowed firefighters to use real doors with different lock configurations.  Firefighters practiced on everything from hollow doors to steel commercial doors.   Thanks to Scott Warner and his crew for a fantastic evening of training.  More Pictures  photo by T. 4/05/07:  The Byram Twp. Stolen Car Found in Lake - Fire Department Assists

4/01/07:   Byram Firefighters were dispatched to Forest Lakes section of town to assist the police department in a vehicle recovery from the Lake.  Asst. Chief Matthews quickly realized the vehicle was to deep in the water for Byram fire fighters to hook the wrecker to.  Mutual Aid was requested from Jefferson Twp. Fire Company #2 for their dive team.  Once on location the dive team worked quickly to get the vehicle out of the water as daylight was fading.  The incident is under investigation by the Byram Police Department.    More Pictures  photo by T. Structure Fire- 2 Dogwood Rd

1/08/07:  At 7:36am Byram Firefighters were dispatched to number 2 Dogwood Rd. in the East Brookwood section of town for the reported structure fire.  Upon arrival of patrol, the fire was confirmed.  Engine 101, 43-120, 43 -121,  43-123 and 43-125 were first on scene.  The crew from engine 101 made entry through the basement as 43-120 assumed command and the rest of the officers set up fire ground operations.  Tanker 107 arrived to supply engine 101 with water until additional units arrived.  43-122 and Engine 104 arrived shortly after to provide additional manpower.   The entry team located a unconscious cat, Captain Matarazzo performed lifesaving techniques on the animal until the cat could be provided oxygen.  The fire was contained with in 15 minutes.  Crews stood by waiting the arrival of the power company to shut the main power source off.   Once the power was turned off firefighters performed overhaul operations.  At this time Firefighter Henry located the missing dog hiding under the bed, and the dog was happy to see him.  Both animals were taken to a local animal hospital for observation. Mutual aid was requested from Stanhope, Netcong and Budd Lake.  No other injuries were reported and the fire remains under investigation.  More Pictures  photo by T. Rudloff
